Kai Mata is an Indonesian singer-songwriter, known for being the country’s first openly LGBTQ+ musician. While being gay is criminalized in Indonesia and Kai regularly receives death threats, she transforms these into love notes and proudly continues to be a voice for a marginalized community. Kai’s music blends folk elements with contemporary twists. Her deeply personal lyrics tell powerful stories that touch on themes of love, identity, and resilience.

Kai will be performing alongside Binghamton University student band Husband Material at Atomic Tom’s on Friday, April 25. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9. There is no cover charge.
