Summer Savoyards present “London Assurance”

The Summers Savoyards present “London Assurance,” a satiric comedy by Dion Boucicault, March 9, 15 and 16 at the Phelps Mansion Museum in Binghamton. Proceeds benefit Savoyards’ summer operetta and the activities of the Phelps.

The Summer Savoyards present Gilbert & Sullivan’s supernaturally comic operetta Ruddigore: The Witch’s Curse, the story of young and virtuous nobleman seeking to escape a family curse, defy a portrait gallery full of angry ghosts, and woo the girl of his dreams. Ruddigore is performed with full orchestra, fanciful sets, and sumptuous costumes.

Auditions will be held May 19 and 21 at Trinity Memorial Church Hall, 118 Oak St., Binghamton, for the Summer Savoyards’ July performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operetta “Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse.”

Appointments can be scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday or 1-4 p.m. Sunday at  www.summersavoyards.org/auditions. Walk-ups are welcome and will be taken as time allows. Persons interested in being in the chorus should also audition.

Video auditions will be accepted but must be submitted by May 19. Visit the website for details.

After a two-year COVID hiatus, the Summer Savoyards Inc. will return July 8 to present a fully staged production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s popular comic operetta H.M.S. Pinafore in Binghamton University’s Anderson Center Chamber Hall. Gilbert and Sullivan helped shape the modern musical with this tuneful sendup of unqualified politicians and British class tensions, featuring the requisite topsy-turvy plot machinations and oh-so-hummable score. Additional performances: 7:30 p.m. July 9, 3 p.m. July 10. For tickets, call the box office at 607-777-ARTS (777-2787), or visit www.summersavoyards.org/2022-hms-pinafore or anderson-center.secure.force.com/ticket/#/
