Nature journaling is a mindful practice that invites individuals to observe, document, and reflect on the natural world around them. It combines elements of art, science, and personal expression, allowing enthusiasts to deepen their connection with nature while honing their observational skills. Through sketches, written descriptions, and even poetry, nature journaling captures fleeting moments of beauty, reveals patterns in the environment, and fosters a deeper understanding of ecological systems. It’s not just about creating a visual record; it’s about cultivating a sense of wonder and curiosity, encouraging us to slow down, engage with our surroundings, and appreciate the intricate details of the world outside our doorstep. Whether done in solitude or as part of a group, nature journaling offers a pathway to both inner reflection and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.
For this unique workshop, the first session will meet at BCAC and subsequent sessions will take place at different scenic locations all around Broome County! General supplies needed are a sketch book, pencils, colored pencils, pastels, watercolors. Complete agenda and supply list will be sent upon registration.
