Book Club for Kids
July 8 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Our next Book Club for kids is coming up!
This time we will be reading and discussing “Lincoln’s Grave Robbers” By Steve Sheinkin.
A little about this book:
A true crime thriller — the first book for teens to tell the nearly unknown tale of the brazen attempt to steal Abraham Lincoln’s body!
The action begins in October of 1875, as Secret Service agents raid the Fulton, Illinois, workshop of master counterfeiter Ben Boyd. Soon after Boyd is hauled off to prison, members of his counterfeiting ring gather in the back room of a smoky Chicago saloon to discuss how to spring their ringleader. Their plan: grab Lincoln’s body from its Springfield tomb, stash it in the sand dunes near Lake Michigan, and demand, as a ransom, the release of Ben Boyd –and $200,000 in cash.
Meetings will take place each Saturday in July beginning July 8th. We will meet from 11:30am-1:00pm.
Registration is limited to 10 participants, please register by clicking the link below: https://forms.gle/8c8TZXvVCNZzrcRF8
There is no cost for students to attend thanks to support from Visions Federal Credit Union. We would also like to extend our thanks to the Broome County Library for their book recommendation.
Students will participate in discussions about the reading and activities that go along with what they have read.
