With the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution about to be celebrated, Mr. Burdick will briefly discuss the Sullivan Expedition and its trek through what is now Broome County. If time allows, he will also offer biographies of some of the 300+ veterans who lived and are buried in the County. Over the past five years, the Binghamton Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) have been installing roadside markers which honor Revolutionary War veterans who are buried in Southern Tier cemeteries.
Mr. Burdick, a retired engineer with BAE Systems in Endicott, is President of the local SAR chapter and also a member of the Mayflower Society. His love of area history and his genealogy were piqued as a child on family vacations.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
