The Light in the Piazza is a musical that tells the story of Margaret Johnson and her daughter, Clara, who visit Italy from North Carolina in the 1950s. Between visits to the museums of Florence, Clara meets and falls in love with an Italian boy named Fabrizio, and Margaret struggles with whether to protect her daughter from the world – as she herself is protected – or to set her free.  In the Binghamton University Art Museum
