Up, Up, and Away: A Journey Into the World of Hot-Air Ballooning at Kopernik Observatory

March 31, 2023 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Presented by Dar Farzad, Southern Tier Ballooning
Hot Air ballooning started hundreds of years ago and has grown into an everyday opportunity for the public. Dar Farzad is a Hot Air Balloon pilot and owner of Southern Tier Balloon Tours. Dar will talk about different types of balloons, how pilots are licensed, and how weather affects balloon flights. He will cover private versus commercial operations, how the military uses balloons, and what dangers need to be considered when in a Hot Air balloon.
This is an onsite presentation, but we will stream it live on Kopernik’s YouTube channel.
